description abstractThe effect of the wind on the distribution of an oil layer on wavy water has been examined analytically and the results are compared with experimental values. It is found that the wind tends to decrease the difference between the oil layer thickness at the wave crest and the wave trough, but for sinusoidal waves this effect is small.
