description abstractThe stress distribution in a rotating orthotropic disk of constant thickness with a central hole is obtained in closed form for the special case of a material satisfying a condition first studied by Wolf [9] in 1935. A more general analytical solution, proposed in 1973, is closely examined and discussed. The solution proposed in this paper, although limited to a particular kind of material, is successfully used to test the accuracy of the numerical procedures which solve a more generalized form of the problem.
