| description abstract | The new edition of ANSI B31.3 retains established code rules for most petroleum refinery piping with little change. However, significant additions have been made to cover 1) safe handling of unusually hazardous fluids, 2) provisions for safeguarding certain piping systems, and 3) nonmetallic piping. These additions resulted primarily, but not entirely, from expansion of the scope of ANSI B31.3 to cover chemical plants as well as petroleum refineries. Other additions have been made to cover handling of low-hazard fluids and severe cyclic conditions. Metric equivalents have been added for design formulas. | |
