| description abstract | A two-parameter fracture criterion previously applied to flat plates has been extended to cylindrical and spherical shells. It is applicable to all modes of fracture including net section stress levels above yield. The predictive capability is such that the calculated stress at failure for 85 percent of the data examined, was within 10 percent of the experimental values. Furthermore, 96 percent were within 15 percent of the experimental values. | |
