description abstractIn the E.D.M. process one can correlate on the basis of a heat conduction model the material surface temperature with adimensional parameters. A mathematical formulation is proposed. For a given heat input and a maximum surface temperature it is demonstrated that crater depth and radii of the heat source are correlated by an universal function. Experimental data give, for many materials, a surface temperature of the same magnitude as the boiling point.
