| description abstract | In this technical note the method of solving the problem of dynamic response of an elastic structure carrying a moving oscillator, given in the writers' companion paper, is discussed further. The aim of this work is to apply the method to the case of an arbitrarily varying oscillator speed. It is shown that in this case the problem reduces to the integration of a system of linear ordinary differential equations of the same form and complexity as that in the companion paper. Results of numerical experiments have been included. Also, the problem of determining an accurate lower bound for the solution has been discussed. | |
