description abstractIn this investigation, a series solution for the deflection and the stress resultants of shallow shells of any geometry with a rectangular projection is obtained in terms of beam functions on the basis of the Marguerre equations of equilibrium. The shells are subjected to distributed transverse forces. The coefficients of these series are established using an extended double Galerkin method.
