| description abstract | Batch experiments were carried out to investigate the effects of a rhamnolipid biosurfactant (JBR425) and a humic acid (Fluka HA) on arsenic mobilization from a Cu-Zn mine tailings sample collected from Val d’Or, QC, Canada. When pH was below 7, the addition of HA at a low mass ratio (below 2.0 mg HA/g mine tailings) inhibited the mobilization of arsenic significantly. Arsenic mobilization increased with the mass ratio of added HA to the mine tailings. Especially under basic conditions, the introduction of HA significantly enhanced arsenic mobilization.
