| description abstract | It is needed that the differences of selection of material components and idea of mix design between Super mixture and AC mixture should be realized and grasped to understand and utilize the Super mixture rationally. Based on the laboratory tests and engineering practice of asphalt pavement, the main differences of material composition and mix designing method of Super mixture and AC mixture were compared and analyzed. The results show that (1) the methods of selecting component materials are different, such as that the conditions of environment temperature and traffic loads are taken into account in selecting asphalt binder in Super mixture, and S shape gradation curve of Super mix is close to coarse gradation curve of AC-C mixture which is defined in the actual criterion of China; (2) the requirements of molding method and volume parameters of samples in mix design are different. Due to these differences performance and construction characteristics of the two mixtures are unlike. When the Super mixture or coarse gradation mixture are designed by Marshall Method, tendency of rutting damage or moisture damage may be appear in asphalt pavement. | |
