description abstractThe mechanical property of polymer modified porous concrete (PMPC) largely depends on the mechanical property of bonding material. The experimental workloads can be decreased and the PMPC mix can be optimized through studying the effect of the performance and thickness of bonding material on PMPC by finite element method. The inner pore of PMPC was taken into account in the micromechanical model according to the configuration feature of PMPC (elastic binding material + aggregate + void). Meanwhile because of the slim thickness of bonding material, the microscopic meshes were used in the model and the adopted mechanical property values of material were based on experimental representative values. It shows that (1) the calculation result coincides with the experimental result, which indicates that the micromechanical model of PMPC is exactitude; (2) the bonding material with large thickness is beneficial property of PMPC.
