description abstractBy using cell transmission model (CTM, discrete form of LWR model) as analyzing tool, the travel time of a one-way basic road link without entrance and exit controlled by traffic signal was studied. With consideration of the effect of vehicle density on travel speed in the road link, the weighted density of road link was defined to represent the road link state when vehicles enter into the road link. The analytic result shows that (1) dynamic travel time have nothing to do with traffic flow when vehicles enter into the road link; (2) weighted density of road link is in direct proportion to dynamic travel time when the time of vehicles enter into the road link is fixed.
