description abstractA simple and generalized static residual' strength model was formulated on the basis of equivalent damage size concept and stress fracture criterion. The model is semiempirical in nature and requires two data points, i.e., one test for the undamaged case and another with a damaged specimen. Good correlations were obtained with either impact‐damaged or simulated delamination tests. Theoretically speaking, this model can be applied to any type of damage.
