description abstractAbstract. Industrial gas turbines play a fundamental role in modern energy infrastructure, serving as key enablers of reliable power generation and industrial operations. With rising global energy demand and the imperative to reduce its environmental impact, these turbines are undergoing continuous innovation. This study explores major technological advancements, including novel material applications, aerodynamic refinements, improved combustion techniques, and the increasing role of digital technologies. Furthermore, the transition to alternative fuels and the integration of renewables are examined as pivotal developments. The analysis underscores the importance of ongoing enhancements in efficiency, emissions reduction, and operational flexibility to meet the evolving needs of the energy sector. In addition to technological progress, economic and regulatory factors shape the development and deployment of industrial gas turbines. Stricter emissions policies and the push for decarbonization drive research into hydrogen and synthetic fuels, while digital monitoring and predictive maintenance improve operational reliability and cost efficiency. The role of industrial gas turbines in hybrid energy systems, combining conventional and renewable sources, highlights their adaptability in ensuring grid stability. These combined innovations reinforce their relevance as a critical component of future energy solutions, enabling the transition toward more sustainable and resilient power generation.
