description abstractThe acceptance of geopolymeric systems in construction industry as an alternative to portland cement has paved the way for using it in the strengthening of reinforced concrete structures. In this regard, a study was carried out to develop a novel method of strengthening reinforced concrete beams by jacketing using ultrafine blast-furnace slag-based geopolymer. The reinforced concrete beams were in a fully damaged, partially damaged, or undamaged state prior to jacketing. Geopolymer concrete (GPC) exhibited appreciable performance as a jacketing agent. The results of GPC-jacketed beams in terms of strength, ductility, and stiffness degradation were superior compared to portland cement concrete (PCC). GPC-jacketed beams exhibited appreciable performance even at the early age of three days. The levels of damage also influenced the behavior of the jacketed beams.
