description abstractThe focus of the paper is on the development of an innovative participatory planning framework, Pedio Agora, supporting the regeneration of an open public space. It emphasizes the participatory context, i.e., tools for engaging citizens and stakeholders, in an effort to test the effectiveness of the selected participatory tools on the problem at hand, evaluate the outcome produced as to the value added to a specific participatory planning exercise, and provide decision makers with a range of community-driven policy proposals. Based on the experience gained from the empirical application of the proposed framework, barriers involved in the specific city environment are also highlighted.
