| description abstract | An investigation of a new prefabricated composite floor system is described. The system consists of a reinforced concrete T-section with mechanical blockouts in the web whose concrete flange forms the deck; the concrete piers are connected to a wide flange steel beam at their bottom through headed concrete anchors and welded reinforcing bars. The steel beam carries the shear across the openings in the concrete web. The paper describes two experimental programs, the first using three short-span specimens, as part of a pilot study, to investigate the shear performance and the second using three full-scale panels to investigate the overall performance of the system. The floor system offers the potential for a prefabricated composite system using reinforced-concrete and standard steel sections. Practical applications include roofs and floors for parking structures, apartments, and office buildings. | |
