| description abstract | The development and operation of two types of thunder detection and recording systems are described. Both operate remotely and make a permanent record of lightning and thunder. They were developed to obtain objective and more reliable thunder occurrence statistics, and to provide verification of thunderstorm development in convective cells. These systems are applicable to a variety of field experiments that involve data on thunderstorm activity. One device eliminates the need for audio recording and facilitates rapid data analysis. | |
