description abstractDouble-theodolite pilot balloon observations at the instrumented WKY television tower in Oklahoma City suggest that the anemometers located 3 m from the tower underestimate the mean wind speed by 0.8 m s?1 (?7%) when the anemometers are upwind of the tower. Tetroon flights past the tower tend to confirm these results.
