Weather Forecasts in Tabulated and Worded Form by Computer Interpretation of Forecast Charts

Abstract

The paper describes a method, developed in Sweden, of presenting wind, temperature, precipitation, and flight weather forecasts in tabular and worded form by automatic computer processing of available numerical forecast charts. The theoretical basis of this processing is an objective. weather-type classification. When the resulting synoptic climatology is applied to a series of computer-derived forecast fields, objective conclusions about changes in the weather are produced.
