| description abstract | An electro-optical device, the Goldberg Microaerofluorometer (MAFIA), has been developed to provide a nearly instantaneous fluorescent aerosol count. It has an effective sampling rate of 12 liters min?1 and a useful sensitivity for concentrations as low as 0.1 particle liter?1 for selected fluorescent particles ?0.5 ? in diameter. In a room with normal activity or in areas such as active hospital corridors, fluorescent tracer concentrations of 1 particle liter?1 can be quantitatively assayed. | |
