| description abstract | Possible conditional dependence of the distribution of daily precipitation amounts on the occurrence of precipitation on the preceding day is examined. Test results based on 25 years of data at 30 stations in the conterminous United States show that such dependence exists only in the winter season over the Pacific Northwest. | |
