| description abstract | Japanese whaling ship data, a homogeneous dataset mainly covering the southern high-latitude oceans, may be used to fill in gaps in recent sea surface temperature datasets, contributing a fair number of additional observations in this area. The Japanese whaling ship data are treated separately here for the period 1946?84, and they show no significant temperature changes during this period in the main fishing region of 60°?70°S or in the west Pacific warm pool. | |
