description abstractStatistical regression was used to relate observations of the percent of possible sunshine to objective cloud forecasts. A multiple linear regression equation was developed and later applied to produce forecasts of the expected sunshine 1 and 2 days in advance. Test results on independent data indicate that the predictions for all projections have skill with respect to climatology. Results are presented according to projection, season, and location within the United States.
