description abstractIndustrial meteorology has been growing rapidly in the past few years as a result of an improved business climate and increased receptivity on the part of business to specially tailored weather information. It is probable that this trend will continue for the next several years. A potential problem for the future is that the practice of meteorology is becoming increasingly more sophisticated and more expensive. As this trend continues, a number of the small firms being established in the late 1970s will find pressing needs for new capital funds. Some reduction in the number of firms may result in the early 1980s, leaving the industry with a smaller number of larger firms.
