| description abstract | An unusual Kelvin-Helmholtz billow cloud was observed and photographed over New jersey. A thorough investigation of the cloud's meteorological environment was made. The cloud was found to be associated with the northern boundary of an area of jet stream cirrus, was embedded in a region of considerable wind shear, and was accompanied by a dry neutral lapse rate capped by an inversion. | |
