description abstractRiming electrification experiments have been conducted in a wind tunnel, focusing on the substantial difference in results reported by Takahashi in 1978 and by Jayaratne et al. in 1983. Three critical regimes were selected, differing in temperature and cloud water content. Ice particles were floated in a wind tunnel, and cloud droplets were supplied, followed by ice crystals. Cutting off the airflow forced the particles to fall through an induction ring, measuring and recording the electric charge. The results obtained in all three critical regimes supported the results reported by Takahashi in 1978.
