description abstractTo study the apparent increase of ozone during the night, ozone observations were made using a Dobson spectrophotometer with wavelength (Å) pairs ??C (3114/3324) and ??D (3176/3398). The use of the difference method showed that there was no significant systematic increase of ozone during the night. The apparent increase in ozone during the night found with an individual wavelength pair is not real but is due to the increased attenuation of light by large-particle scattering.
