description abstractA broad-band spectral analysis has been carried out for 54 ten-minute observations of the u component of wind speed at a height three meters. The observations were made with mean wind speeds ranging from 2 to 9 m per sec and under all solar heating conditions. The data were taken on a flat grassland in Nebraska. The method of analysis is given and the results are discussed. In addition to confirming previously observed features of the spectrum, it is observed that the influence of solar heating is responsible for about 39 per cent of the total energy between the frequencies of 1/1200 and 1/2 cps.
