| description abstract | Omeishan is located on the eastern margin of the Szechuan Basin, at an altitude of 3093 meters. According to the five-year record of meteorological observations, the mean January and July temperatures are ?5.3C and 12.0C respectively. There are five months with temperatures below freezing and only two months warmer than 10C. The precipitation in the year 1932?1933 was 7321 mm, which is one of the highest records of the world, but the average for 1939?1942 gives an annual precipitation of only 1924 mm, which is regarded as normal. By comparing Omeishan with several other stations this paper gives some remarks on the mountain climate in southwestern China. | |
