description abstractFourteen years of observations of the content of cloud seeding agents in the air and water of a hail-protection area in the Republic of Moldova are summarized. During the observational period, the amount and type of the reagent used were changed. The data obtained show that cloud seeding caused noticeable pollution of the environment at an annual injection to the atmosphere of several grams per hectare of lead iodide. After replacing lead iodide with silver iodide as a reagent, the latter being used in amounts of not more than 0.5 g ha?1, the signs of environmental pollution by the ice-forming nucleant proved insignificant.
