description abstractDuring the America's Cup race series of 1986?1987, a numerical sea breeze model was used to assist offshore forecasts. The exercise has provided a detailed insight into the extent to which such a model may assist the forecasting process the parameterizations necessary, and the factors that limit its accuracy. It also has demonstrated some of the factors controlling the behavior of the Western Australian sea breeze.
