description abstractTransmitting lateral boundary conditions are derived for application to unidirectional wave trains in the parabolic equation method. A form of the condition is derived which is numerically exact for situations where Snell's law holds, and solutions for shoaling and refraction preserve the exact solution of the governing equation.
