description abstractCompound horizontal curves find applications in alignment situations involving space constraints. While typical designs for compound curves are available, specific designs can be evolved analytically to suit traffic and site conditions. Fitting transition spirals within a compound curve requires modification of the design procedure applicable for tangent-to-arc transitions. Compound curve design is facilitated by trials following a step-by-step approach.
