description abstractMuch residential construction in the United States is not engineered and is inspected by building officials who often are not engineers. Roof failures in these structures occur during severe windstorms. A simplified method to determine the adequacy of the roof-wall connection is presented in this paper. The procedure utilizes design charts and nomographs.
