description abstractA deepwater application for catenary mooring systems is on guyed tower oil production platforms. The restraint provided by the mooring system is nonlinear, but an equivalent nonlinear spring can be used to simplify the dynamic analysis of such structures. The development of such a spring is presented. It was found that the coefficients were constant with water depth and therefore can be presented as design charts; there would be one chart for each mooring geometry.
