| description abstract | As a protection measure against scour and undermining, sheet piles are provided at the upstream and the downstream ends of a weir. One or two rows of intermediate sheet piles are also provided to reduce the uplift pressures on the downstream floor. Due to the complexities of analysis, it is not known whether the provision of intermediate sheet piles is economical. This paper investigates the effectivity of multiple sheet piles as a means of reducing the floor thickness and, eventually, the cost. | |
