description abstractThis study deals with the optimum design of an orientation mechanism capable of producing controlled orientation in the vertical plane for underwater submersibles. The location of an eccentric weight relative to the submersible’s center of buoyancy controls its equilibrium orientation angle. The mechanism can be utilized for controlling the position of scuba divers, underwater cameras and other devices requiring specific orientation in the marine environment.
