description abstractIn the field of designing cylindrical gear teeth for automobile gear boxes, this paper shows the advantages resulting from designing gear teeth and cutting tools simultaneously to obtain the best possible compromise (strength, quietness, and cost). This paper underlines the benefit of integrating the complete dimensional designing of teeth and tools, using computers extensively, in a specialized department having a good knowledge of gears and generating machines and tools.
