description abstractThe design parameters of turboexpanders and their influence on process optimization are reviewed with particular emphasis on hydrocarbon recovery processes requiring large power output turboexpanders. Plants with 100,000 horsepower expanders have not yet been built. However, the technology is available and novel test procedures are discussed in detail. This provides the necessary confidence for custom engineering of large turboexpander plants.
