description abstractAn absolute upper bound on the momentum number in turbulent plane Couette flow is obtained proportional to the two-thirds power of the Reynolds number. The derivation is based upon the energy integral and the specification of an internally consistent constraint on the fluctuating velocity field. A boundary layer approximation for the mean velocity profile is also obtained and the results are found to be consistent with the two-thirds power law.
