description abstractSeveral excellent texts have been written on the subject of nuclear reactor theory and analysis. The material and orientation of “classicalâ€‌ treatments may be seen as somehow outdated for today’s methods and techniques used in nuclear engineering. For example, the availability of large fast digital computers has had a very strong influence on the development of advanced, highfidelity, analytical techniques used in modern nuclear reactor design. Furthermore, the neutronics analysis cannot be limited to only the behavior of the neutron population in the reactor core, but rather consider other nonnuclear aspects of core analysis such as thermalhydraulics, structural design, licensing requirements, or economic considerations. In any practical design study, the interplay among these various facets of reactor analysis must be taken into account.
