| description abstract | A series of experiments was carried out to investigate transient axial thrust caused by pump starting. Conditions of discharge piping pressure distribution around the impellers and the relation between steady and transient operating conditions were studied. Transient pump operating conditions were calculated and compared with test data. The maximum axial thrust at starting was calculated from the measurement of axial thrust under steady operating conditions and the calculation of transient operating conditions. | |
