description abstractThis paper presents the effects of the fuel lower heating value (LHV) of various syngas fuels on the performance and emissions of a twoafterbody trapped vortex combustor (TVC). Optimizing the fuel composition will result in a higher LHV and will in turn produce a more efficient performance. On the other hand, the fuel composition has a direct effect on the emissions of the TVC. Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations were conducted for various syngas fuels to determine the effects of the fuel constituents and heat of combustion on the TVC performance, and to optimize and accurately predict the performance of a syngas fuel that can meet the emissions requirements.
