description abstractThis paper describes a method of analyzing the kinematic characteristics of cams, with profiles represented by an eight-term Fourier series and with oscillating-type followers. Two kinds of cam follower systems, viz., roller follower and flat-face follower systems, are used. In general the method applies to any cam whose profile can be expressed in terms of its radius being a function of the rotation angle [r = f(θ)].
