| description abstract | Sliding tests are carried out on the (001) surface of a copper single crystal lubricated with liquid paraffin using a diamond cone slider. The experimental results show that widths of sliding tracks vary periodically with crystallographic directions. In the present experiment the surface is only deformed, and no wear debris is produced. The elastic anisotropy with respect to the direction of sliding is considered, and the distribution of slip traces around the track is observed on the (001) surface of copper. The results indicate that in the surface damage during sliding the plastic deformation and work-hardening are more important than elastic recovery of the surface. | |
