description abstractIf a plane oscillating cylinder mechanism is in the position where the slider and the crank are aligned, it has a Ball point on the slider. This Ball point coincides with the inflexion-pole. The said point has the excess two if and only if the mechanism is suitably dimensioned. In this paper, extensions of these theorems are given for a spherical oscillating cylinder mechanism. It is shown that the theorems for the plane mechanism can be obtained from the spherical ones by a limiting process. Moreover, some theorems on the spherical mechanism are given without proofs.
