description abstractThis investigation deals with the factors responsible in controlling the corrosion of carbon steel tubed feedwater heaters. Water chemistry variables include pH, hydrazine and carbon dioxide. Heater design considerations include the effect of velocity and inlet channel distribution. Although there are certain unexplainable findings with respect to corrosion behavior, the installation tested proves the acceptability of carbon steel for feedwater heater service.
