description abstractThe behavior of turbine stator wakes moving with the flow through a rotor cascade is studied. The stator wake is modeled as a series of active vortices forming part of a von Karman vortex street, the motion of which is determined with the aid of the vortex dynamics theory. The study has recognized basic mechanisms and patterns of the wake-cascade interaction. In particular, it revealed that the course of the interaction depends on initial distribution of the vortices in the wake when it approaches the rotor cascade.
