description abstractIn this work, the author develops a new approach to the theory of the cutting mechanism based on the comparative analysis of classical theories. He suggests the introduction of an empirical parameter E, related to the efficiency, which modifies the Lee-Shaffer solution; at E = 1, the theory reduces to the latter theory.
