| description abstract | The paper describes a numerical solution to the problem of diffusion of a dye injected into turbulent pipe flow. Theoretical concentration distributions obtained assuming a uniform distribution of radial diffusivity coefficient and those obtained assuming a parabolic radial distribution of diffusivity are compared with measured concentration profiles at various distances downstream of injection. The effect of flow and injection conditions on the length of straight pipe required for complete mixing of the dye has been found from the theoretical results. | |
